Culture Club - Greatest Hits - Virgin

When I was a wee little girl all my friends had pictures of people like Kirk Cameron plastered on their walls. They all had pretty pig tails and looked fairly normal. Well when I was a little girl I had 3 pairs of pajamas with neon numbers all over them I wore in rotation to school, along with my brown derby hat and the tiny little braids I made my mother put in my hair. Who was plastered all over my walls? Boy George and Culture Club of course.

Well years later, the pictures have come down and I have expanded my wardrobe beyond my self proclaimed "Color By Numbers" PJ's, but I still love Culture Club. To this day I think Boy George has a voice that could rival any female diva around today. That little scrawny drag queen from England sounded like he had been raised singing in the choir of a Mississippi Delta Baptist Church.

Needless to say when Culture Club's double CD VH1 Storytellers/Greatest Hits came out, I was all over it. Disc one is your typical greatest hits CD. Did Culture Club record any songs that were not hits? Tracks like "Do you Really Want to Hurt Me", "I'll Tumble 4 Ya", and "Karma Chameleon" are all here ready for you to dance to. My personall favorites "Time" and "Miss Me" are here as well. Hell, it even has Boy George's solo come back smash "The Crying Game". This CD is busting at the seams with hits!

The beauty of the second disc is that it is live. Usually I hate live CDs and find them as pretentious as the next guy, but for my first love I made an exception. One of the live tracks was a song I heard for the first time that night as the show aired on VH1 and has since become a favorite, the reggae inspired "I Just Wanna Be Loved". You just knew it was about the drummer and the way he broke poor boy George's heart. He just want's to be loved John, Jesus is that too much to ask?

Unlike most double CD's that run you close to $30.00 this CD is regular price at about $16. Hell of a deal for so many great songs you grew up knowing and loving.
