The Faraquet - The View from This Tower - Dischord

What you have here are three extremely talented guys serving up a heaping platter of math-rock.

The Faraquet are from DC and contain ex-members of Smart Went Crazy. These guys play the math like I haven’t heard it in a long time and it’s good. Comprised of bass, drums, and guitars, sometimes it’s fast and catchy and sometimes it’s so technical it makes my head spin.

During the fast parts, I think of Regulator Watts. During the slow, June of 44. But, neither of these bands have achieved the technical prowess that the Faraquet seems to have achieved. The music on The View from This Tower is extremely tight and well-written, it might take several listens before one can fully appreciate what is going on.

I once saw The Faraquet live and they were fantastic. All over the place and at the same time together and regimented. Make it a point to check out The Faraquet.
