The
Promise Ring - Electric Pink - Jade Tree
Review by: Jennifer Perkins
I think the Promise Ring, better than any other band around today can write perfect pop punk songs. How can you listen to "Make Me a Mixed Tape" and not like it. It makes you want to run right to Wal-Mart and buy blank tapes to get busy recording all your favorite songs, especially this one for your friends and loved ones! Souper good stuff. My head bobs just thinking about it.
"Electric Pink", the title track and first song is a great way to start things off. Guitars, backing vocals of "Oh's", a tambourine, the word pink in the title, Davey's ever so slight lisp…..perfect popness. Does it get any better? Well yes Tahiti 80 exists, but that's another review altogether! It makes you want to bounce right on around. My only complaint about the ELECRTIC PINK EP is that it is an EP and there is not more. Well I could have done without the acoustic guitar start to "American Girl", but I will get over it.
ELECTRIC PINK does not deviate too much from what Promise Ring fans have come to know and love about the band. Same old wholesome goodness. How are these people not MTV darlings? Can someone please tell me why Jade Tree has not gotten these guys a prime gig on TRL? Carson would like them. No they are not as do-able as Blink 182, but they sound a helluva lot better.
