Those Peabodys/The Olive Group - Split 7" - Dutch White Recordings
Review by: Jennifer Perkins
Split 7"s are one of the best inventions ever. They usually have 2 songs, by two different bands, in a cute little $3 package. How can you not love that? When the split 7" has 2 of Austin's finest up and coming bands and is on colored vinyl, it sweetens the deal even more.
The Olive Group, the more established of the two bands are here offering up their own special Austin Indie Jazz with a lot of spunk and a high-end vintage guitar sound. "Wait for the Sun" is a prime example of the talent this band oozes.
Those Peabodys, the newest Rock-n-Roll muscle in A-Town are here rip roaring their way through "Harlequin Sweet Lips". This band is not shy about the fact that they like to rawk out and have a good time, it shows in every aspect of their music. Alright!
Although these bands are completely opposites sound wise. The Olive Group seeming to make smart jazz meets pop music that you should pay attention to, and the other Those Peabodys who sound better after a few beers. Both are great and the contrast of sounds really makes the 7" even more interesting.
