Fake Fruit can be found at any crafty store like Michael's. Just look how a pair of plastic pineapple book-ends makes this average bookshelf a tropical delight!

Hawiian bust is pretty common at antique malls and flea markets.

I was reading on a posting board not long ago about some girls in search of suggestions about how to get the "Tiki Look". I thought, the world needs my advice on how to create a tropical paradise.

The Tiki Look can be done in a bathroom, bedroom, hell your kitchen if you wanted to.

Tiki can be more than just your typical display of 50's Tiki glasses and a bar to match. Expand your tropical horizon's to collections of Aquarium Furniture, funky sunglasses, and shell lamps. There is more than one way to worship the Tiki.

*Hawiian Shirts have endless possibilities, you could just hang them on the wall and display them or...

-A large men's shirt has enough fabric to cover the seat of a small chair. Do each piece of the chair in a different shirt if you want a really crazy look.

-Cut the back out of the shirt in a square and make it a pillow front. Use a solid color for the back, stuff that bitch then stitch it up. Add some tacky trim.

-Cover the mat of a picture frame with the shirt fabric

In World War II sailors often sent these souviner shoes home to their girlies. They are wooden shoes with the heels cut out into a tropical scene. These have "Philippines" stiched over teh toe. They make a nice collection.

Shell lamps. These are all over at flea markets, and I know Wal-Marts in trashy Texas coastal towns still have them new. Look for older ones that come with flamingos or Jesus on the cross. The one in the photo is a souviener for some place called Bridal Cave, oh the innuendoes that has.

*Aquarium furniture is all around and looks pretty damn tropical. The older pieces as well as the ones marked Japan are more valuable.

*Get yourself a coconut scented glade plug in to get the tropical experience a la' olfactory.

*Gather up old suitcases from the thrift store and your granny's closet to use as a bed side table or a coffee table.

*Be sure to have some pictures of Jack Lords and Elvis in Hawaii.

*Hula Skirt Window Treatments You can buy a hula skirt at almost any party or costume supply store. Basically take the skirt and fold the edges over or trim it to fit the width of your window. Now staple or tack the skirt in place. You might think about trimming each corner in some fake tropical flowers.

*Hula skirts also look nice in bathrooms around the back of a toilet or a free standing sink.

*Retro or obnoxious sunglasses displayed on a lampshade perhaps.

*Once upon a time Airlines gave away free travel bags. Displaying these gives you the feeling of vacationing somewhere tropical.
