The Holy Fallout - Track Star Records

Review by: Jennifer Perkins

I asked my boyfriend to put on The Holy Fallout 7" for me last night, he tricked me and put on his new Cinderella record, Night Songs instead. It was OK, it had that jam "Shake Me" on it. Then I got consumed in other things and he said "what did you think of that song"? He had changed records and I hadn't even noticed. I had listened to the Holy Fallout 7" and mistaken it for Cinderella.

The Holy Fallout remind me of Cinderella. Cinderella was almost a hair band, but at the same time had some real metal oomph to them. Underneath all that glam was the heart of a true Hesher. The Holy Fallout teeter between categorizations in much the same way.

The first side of the 7" and its song "Heartattack" has much of that same Cinderella blues meets metal feel. They are reminiscent of Jon Spencer and The Delta 72 . If they had a bass player to help pick up the groove a little bit it would work to their advantage.

Just as quick as Cinderella can go from a power ballad to Head Bangers Ball material the second song on the 7", "At the Sound of Man" makes you wanna rock. Reminds me of the Hot Snakes with that stripped down John Reis feel. The vocals are sparse, but the two guitars sounding off on top of rowdy drums even things out

The Holy Fallout have a little ways to go before they manage to have their own Night Songs. But, if this 7" is any kind of pre-cursor to what lies ahead for the band it won't be long.
