Milena - Skirt Confessions

Review by: Tina Lockwood

For some reason, I tend to rarely like music on my first listen. Knowing this about myself, I set Milena's Skirt Confessions aside after my first listen, hoping that a little time between listens would leave me with a better impression. No luck. I had a hard time listening to this album, something just really rubbed me the wrong way. Words like ethereal, new-age-y, goth, and cheesy come to mind. Maybe it was the vocal sound supported by tinty, high-end, echoed-out guitar licks....complete with the occasional whisper. Strangely, I felt like I should have been in a coffee house surrounded by lots of people in black turtle necks reading excerpts from Rimbaud...???
