The Strokes - Is this It - RCA

Review by: Tina Lockwood

Pretend for a moment that The Stroke's latest album Is This It is sex. Really GOOD sex. At first, although the recording was really warm and inviting, I was a little frigid - fighting my urges like virgin, but very quickly gave in to the addictive melodies, super catchy guitar parts and upbeat drum stylings. Pretty soon, I was begging for it, daydreaming about it, singing along even. Basically, I was an easy lay. Now, I want it in the morning, in my car, in my cublicle, in the kitchen, in the shower, in bed. I'm a slut for Is This It! Am I embarrassed? No. Before you get excited though, keep in mind that The Stroke's don't invent any new groundbreaking techniques. I'd swear the lead singer Julian Casablancas romped around with Lou Reed of the Velvet Underground or Bob Dylan a time or two to pick up some tips, but what sets The Strokes apart from the rest (as any women will know) is in their style and delivery. Awwh Yeah. They know how to do it to me.
